CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF CORPORATE WEBSITE
CHALLENGE
The Union of Ontario Indians represents first nation communities across most of Ontario covering a massive geographic footprint. The project goal was to design and develop an innovative, informative and interactive website linking all representative communities and provide ease of use for native and non-native visitors.
INSIGHT AND KEY CONSIDERATIONS
TWG Communications was tasked with compiling a wide variety of traditional images and symbols representative of the native communities being served by the new site. Culture plays such a big role in native life that the look and feel of the new website needed to be respectful of native culture. The selection of colours, textures and images to be used required a great deal of sensitivity and had to gain the approval of a wide constituency.
IMPLEMENTATION
Taking the site live in the Autumn of 2006 required that TWG designers work closely with Union of Ontario Indian technicians in an effort to coordinate the launch.
RESULTS
The launch of the new site has been a tremendous success for the Union and has garnered much positive feedback. This new site is a mainstream communication vehicle which allows the Union to interact with internal, external and global users.
