DEVELOPMENT OF NEW VISUAL IDENTITY AND BRAND GUIDELINES
CHALLENGE
Nipissing Best Start is the culmination of several years of planning and incorporates involvement from a variety of organizations and individuals. TWG Communications was challenged with creating a visual identity, position statement and complimentary materials for this new region wide initiative.
INSIGHT AND KEY CONSIDERATIONS
Best Start is an initiative of the provincial government through the Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services. While the overall perspective of the initiative is provincial each regional provider is extended latitude for the creation of a distinct look and a regionally appropriate visual identity and position statement. In this way, each area is reflective of the services being provided to meet the needs of a local constituency. TWG needed to be cognizant of a number of sensitive issues including heritage, culture, language and religious backgrounds.
IMPLEMENTATION
Working with a dedicated committee of the groups planning table, TWG created several visual identity options for consideration. The final version selected was created in both english and french and is representative of the nature of the Best Start program providing services for children from birth to age six. This is a program for children and families thus the position statement “Helping Every Child Shine” articulates program goals of aiding children in achieving their full potential. The new logo and position statement will be applied to a variety of materials including website, brochure, signage, stationery and banner stands.
RESULTS
The new look garnered unanimous approval from the members of the planning table. The Nipissing Best Start logo has received high praise from the client and was revealed to a full gymnasium of attendees at the opening of the first of several Best Start sites.
